Whirlpool Win Nets "Litigator of the Week" Recognition
Our Whirlpool team – Andrew Unthank, Mike Williams, Herman Hoying, and Iva Velickovic – won a rare free speech victory in class actions alleging gas stoves emit harmful pollutants in homes. The court ruled the plaintiffs’ nondisclosure claims would violate Whirlpool’s First Amendment protection against compelled speech where they failed to show a scientific consensus that gas stoves pose health risks. The outcome earned our team a shout-out in The American Lawyer’s “Litigator of the Week” feature.
