2005 Best of the Bar

07.15.2005

Hugh Gottschalk, Managing Partner of Wheeler Trigg Kennedy, received the 2005 Denver Business Journal's Best of the Bar award for pro bono.  Mr. Gottschalk was recognized largely for the four years he devoted to a First Amendment case involving inmates at the Colorado Department of Corrections and their right to receive publications deemed objectionable.  After years of litigation, Colorado DOC agreed to a settlement which revamps their procedures and provides new processes and training to prevent any arbitrary censorship.

Michael O'Donnell, Chairman of Wheeler Trigg Kennedy, was a finalist for Denver's 2005 Best of the Bar in the personal injury litigation – defense law category.  Mr. O'Donnell was also a finalist in the 2003 Best of the Bar in the legal malpractice category.
