No Beach Time, but a Trial Win

Who spends the month of February in Hawaii and never goes to the beach? WTO lawyers, busy winning another complex trial with a very sympathetic plaintiff.
In the firm’s second trial in Hawaii already this year, Cecilie Loidolt and Colleen Koch won for a urologist who was treating a patient with massive kidney stones. The patient developed an extreme skin reaction to some medication – it was unclear whether it was the medication to slow the growth of the kidney stones or other medication the patient received. Following a three-week trial, the jury returned a verdict for our client after deliberating for just 30 minutes.
Cecilie has first-chaired more than 60 trials. Colleen, an associate and fresh off a major role in an Alaska trial to defend the rights of foster children, played another significant role in this trial by cross-examining plaintiffs’ damages witnesses and getting them to agree to much lower numbers by altering erroneous assumptions they had made in their calculations.
Congratulations to Cecilie and Colleen!
