Malcolm Wheeler Chosen as One of 10 Most Admired Product Liability Lawyers Nationally

Date: 09.13.10

DENVER: Wheeler Trigg O'Donnell is proud to announce that partner Malcolm Wheeler has been selected as one of Law360's Most Admired Product Liability Lawyers. Nominations were compiled from members of the national legal community including practice group heads at the 100 largest law firms in the country. Survey participants were not permitted to nominate an attorney from their own firm. In total, 1,061 lawyers were nominated.  Wheeler was ultimately chosen as one of the ten most admired product liability lawyers in the United States, placing him among the top .1% of product liability lawyers nationally.

The award recognizes Wheeler's many accomplishments spanning his 40-year career.  His practice focuses on large and complex business litigation and product liability litigation, especially nationwide "pattern" litigation, class actions, and major appeals. He has defended manufacturers at trial or on appeal in many highly publicized cases throughout the nation, including the Pinto criminal prosecution, the first "no airbag" case tried to verdict, the first defective airbag case tried to verdict, SSRI antidepressant litigation, and other cases in the medical device, pharmaceutical, chemical, automotive, and appliance industries. He has briefed and argued cases in the United States Supreme Court, in United States courts of appeals, and in state appellate courts throughout the country.

Two vitally important areas in which Wheeler is widely recognized as a leader in product liability litigation are punitive damages and federal preemption.  He has been the designated media representative for several Fortune 500 companies in connection with major litigation. He is a fellow in the American College of Trial Lawyers and annually is ranked among the top ten product liability lawyers in the country by Chambers USA
